Sunday's game results, seven innings of shutout ball from Chien-Ming Wang in a 1-0 win, suited the Yankees just fine. Watching catcher Jorge Posada strip off his uniform, knowing he won't be back for 15 days at the earliest and probably longer, was much harder to swallow.

In a rematch of Game 1 of last year's American League Division Series, Chien-Ming Wang outdueled defending AL Cy Young Award winner C.C. Sabathia, hurling seven scoreless innings as the Yankees edged the Indians, 1-0, snapping New York's three-game losing streak.

Victor Martinez's bases-loaded single off Ross Ohlendorf scored Grady Sizemore with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Indians defeated the Yankees, 4-3, on Saturday at Progressive Field.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that his hard-throwing setup man is fine, but Joba Chamberlain was not available for a second consecutive day on Saturday in Cleveland.

The Yankees' emphasis on player development, as opposed to player purchase, and the resulting reliance on young pitchers, is the intelligent long-term approach for this organization to take. At the moment, it's just not producing a flood of victories.
